CV

(January 2026)

Munich-based bass-baritone Alexander Rampp took his first steps in the Tölz Boys' Choir under Professor Gerhard Schmidt-Gaden. He performed numerous times, including as the Third Boy in Mozart's The Magic Flute.

While still studying law at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, he began vocal studies at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music Dresden. There, he is a student of Kammersänger Professor Matthias Henneberg.

He also received musical inspiration from Professor Christine Hesse and Professor Britta Schwarz in song and concert performance, as well as from Professor Milko Kersten in opera. His previous teachers include Professor Thomas Gropper at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts and Professor Bernd Valentin at the Mozarteum University Salzburg. He has furthered his training with masterclasses with Juliane Banse, Professor Yamina Maamar, and Professor Luca De Marchi.

Alexander Rampp was a scholarship recipient of the Richard Wagner Scholarship Foundation, the Dey Foundation, and the Germany Scholarship.

He was also a finalist in the Louis Spohr Competition.

His repertoire ranges from the Baroque to the contemporary era, and he is equally at home in opera, concert, and art song.

He has worked with conductors such as Reinhard Goebel, Reto Schärli, Ivo Hentschel, Franz Brochhagen, and Roman Brogli-Sacher. He has also gained experience working with various directors, including Florian Hackspiel, Reinhardt Friese, Susanne Knapp, Rebekka Stanzel, and Kay Link.

Alexander Rampp's roles to date include the Impresario in Gaetano Donizetti's opera Viva la Mamma!, Papageno in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's opera The Magic Flute, the Angel of Chastity in the world premiere of the opera Dante – From Inferno to Paradise by Hollywood composer Patrick Cassidy, Professor Kurt Huber in Udo Zimmermann's opera The White Rose (1967 version), and the role of Macij in Marius Felix Lange's opera Krabat.

In 2026, he will make his debut as Leporello in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's opera Don Giovanni.

Alexander Rampp is also dedicated to concert and art song performance. As a soloist, he has sung works including Johann Sebastian Bach's Passions, numerous cantatas and the Christmas Oratorio, George Frideric Handel's Messiah, Joseph Haydn's The Creation, Felix Mendelssohn's Elijah, and Giacomo Puccini's Messa di Gloria.

Furthermore, he gave several recitals with songs by Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann and Carl Loewe.
