Munich bass-baritone Alexander Rampp took his first steps in the Tölzer Knabenchor under Prof. Gerhard Schmidt-Gaden. He has performed numerous times, including as the Third Boy in Mozart's The Magic Flute.
While still studying law at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, he began vocal studies at the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music in Dresden. There he is a student of Kammersänger Prof. Matthias Henneberg.
He has also received musical inspiration from Prof. Christine Hesse and Prof. Britta Schwarz in the areas of Lied and concert performance. His previous teachers include Prof. Thomas Gropper at the Munich University of Music and Prof. Bernd Valentin at the Salzburg Mozarteum. He has supplemented his education with master classes with Juliane Banse and Prof. Yamina Maamar.
Alexander Rampp has received scholarships from the Richard Wagner Scholarship Foundation, the Dey Foundation, and the Deutschlandstipendium.
He was also a finalist in the Louis Spohr Competition.
His repertoire ranges from the Baroque to the modern era, and he is equally at home in opera, concerts, and lieder.
Alexander Rampp has sung, among others, the role of Impresario in Gaetano Donizetti's opera Viva la Mamma!, Papageno in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart´s opera The Magic Flute, the Angel of Chastity in the world premiere of the opera Dante - From Inferno to Paradise by the well-known Hollywood composer Patrick Cassidy, Professor Kurt Huber in Udo Zimmermann's opera The White Rose (1967 version) and the role of Macij in Marius Felix Lange's opera Krabat.
Alexander Rampp also devotes himself intensively to concert and lieder singing. As a soloist, he has performed works including Johann Sebastian Bach's Passions, numerous cantatas and the Christmas Oratorio, George Frideric Handel's The Messiah, Joseph Haydn's The Creation, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy's Elijah, and Giacomo Puccini's Messa di Gloria.
He has also given various recitals with songs by Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann, and Carl Loewe.
